Tariffs – Here’s What You Need to Know
Dear Valued Customers,
We understand that recent trade developments may be raising questions, and we want to assure you that the team at Springfield Florists Supply is here to keep you informed as things continue to evolve.
On April 2nd, President Trump announced a new 10% “universal” tariff on all imports, set to take effect on April 5, 2025. This is in addition to “reciprocal” tariffs targeting specific countries starting April 9.
UPDATE: As of April 9th, 2025, These “reciprocal” tariffs have been paused , however, the base 10% tariff remains in effect for the time being.
The Good News: Thanks to the USMCA trade agreement, flowers, foliage, and plants imported from Canada and Mexico are not affected by these changes and will remain tariff-free.
The Not-So-Good News: Unfortunately, the newly announced tariffs will impact several major exporters of fresh cut flowers, including Colombia, Ecuador, and the Netherlands.
As a result, we are anticipating a rise in prices across the floral industry in the coming weeks. At this time, we intend to honor all Pre-Book pricing for Mother’s Day, as well as standing orders through May 11th. After that date, we will reassess the situation and provide updates as needed. This remains a rapidly evolving situation, and we’re staying closely tuned to any updates or policy adjustments. We promise to keep you informed every step of the way and will continue working hard to deliver the best possible value and service.
Warmly,
The Springfield Florists Supply Team

How do I open a Wholesale Account?
Partnering with Springfield Florist Supplies means access to premium products, competitive pricing, and services tailored to wholesale buyers like you. Check out the guidelines below to see if you qualify and take the first step toward joining our network of floral professionals.
Our goal is to offer superior products, exceptional service, and the expertise of our experienced sales team to help grow your business.
As a wholesale florist, we open accounts only for businesses and individuals who hold a resale license and are actively involved in the floral industry. To open an account, the following documentation is required:(available via the links below)
- Customer Information Form
- State Resale Tax Form
- Credit Card Agreement
- Copies of government-issued documents (such as EIN Number & Resale Certificate from your state)
Without the proper documentation proving that your business operates in the floral industry, we will not be able to open an account. If your business focus is not floral sales, we are required by law to charge sales tax on purchases.
Having an account with Springfield Florists Supply Inc. allows you to purchase from us, but it does not convey credit terms or guarantee the best wholesale pricing.
- All accounts are strictly C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery) – We do not offer credit terms. Every account must provide a credit card to keep on file for payment of invoices.
- Pricing is based on purchase volume and frequency – Pricing is based on purchasing volume and frequency. Customers who buy regularly and in larger quantities receive better pricing than those who place occasional or minimal orders. Our pricing structure is designed to be fair to all customers, rewarding those who invest significantly in our partnership.
- Sales tax is charged unless proper documentation is provided – Additionally, some customers assume that having an account means they are automatically exempt from sales tax. However, due to state audit regulations, we must charge sales tax unless a business meets the qualifications for exemption. Businesses whose primary focus is not flower sales or direct retail sales will be required to pay sales tax. This policy ensures compliance with state regulations and protects us from potential audits
To ensure smooth transactions, we require all customers to keep a credit card on our secure, encrypted off site server as a backup payment method.
For customers who wish to receive deliveries, the following conditions apply:
- A valid credit card must be on file, as payment will be processed at the time of invoicing.
- Deliveries require a minimum order amount, which varies by location.
- Delivery service days vary depending on your area.
- We encourage customers to allow us to install a lockbox at their location to facilitate convenient deliveries outside of business hours.
We offer three different online purchasing platforms, each designed to meet different sourcing needs:
-
SFS WebShop – Allows customers to purchase products that are currently in stock at our physical location. Inventory is updated in real time for accurate availability.
-
CFT WebShop (Cut Flower Trader) – Connects customers directly with growers who are members of the Tradewinds Flower Group, allowing you to purchase fresh flowers straight from the source.
-
Holex WebShop – Provides access to the Dutch Flower Auction, enabling customers to buy premium-quality flowers directly from international markets.
Once an account is opened, we will provide login credentials to access these webshops.
